Well, it’s certainly been a Monday.

You might’ve noticed that some PS5 players logged on earlier today and found that Patch 8 was available to them. Our partners have confirmed that some regions mistakenly received the Patch 8 build as an update to their live game version, in preparation for the Patch 8 stress test. 

This version of Patch 8 is not supported, and you may experience compatibility issues with savegames and mods. You can return to the Patch 7 game version by uninstalling and reinstalling your Baldur’s Gate 3 game.

How do I know if I've automatically updated to Patch 8?

You can check which game version you're on by viewing the version number in the bottom right corner of the Main Menu. If you are on version 01.800.000 or 4.1.1.6583053, this is the Patch 8 version. Anything below this number, and you should still be on Patch 7, as intended.

I updated to Patch 8, what do I need to know?

Your version of Patch 8 won’t be updated until Patch 8 is ready to be released, and you won’t receive updates and bug fixes throughout the Patch 8 stress test.

Any new saves made on Patch 8 are not compatible with the Patch 7 version of the game. This means if you create a new save or override an existing save while on Patch 8, you won’t be able to continue using this save if you revert to Patch 7, and we cannot guarantee saves made in this version will remain compatible when Patch 8 is released.

Mods may not be compatible with this particular game version, and you may experience performance issues. 

Why did I receive this unintentional update? 

While not on our side, a number of PS5 players in Europe and Asia mistakenly received this update, which was only accessible for a few hours. It is no longer available to download.

If I stay on Patch 8 will I be able to use Mulitplayer to play with players on Patch 7? 

No, you must have the same version of the game to play multiplayer. 

If I got access to Patch 8, does that mean I have been selected for the Patch 8 stress test? 

Invites for the Patch 8 Stress Test will be sent in waves and signing up does not guarantee access. This unintentional update does not guarantee or confirm access to the Patch 8 stress test. 

Access to the stress test will be communicated via email, and you will receive a key to redeem, which will update Baldur's Gate 3 to the Patch 8 version in your game library.
